Position : Medical Technologist
Coordinates daily activities in performing technical and sophisticated testing procedures to obtain timely and accurate clinical data to aid the physician in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
In addition, the Medical Technologist/Technician will accommodate patients, family members, and guests during the collection of laboratory specimens while providing a comfortable setting and aspiring to the highest principles of customer service.
Must be able to provide professional and quality care while following hospital policies, procedures and standards.
Performs all duties of a laboratory technologist/technician on a daily basis and provides direct patient care to patients ranging in age from pediatric through geriatric.
Assumes responsibility for the safety and well-being of all patient in the department.
Assumes responsibility to trouble shoot equipment and effectively communicate to the service engineers for repairs.
Organizes daily work schedule and performs related clerical duties as required.
This position will also be required to oversee the laboratory’s quality control and quality assurance program.
At least 5 to 10 years of previous experience as a Medical Technologist in an acute care setting; current knowledge of CLIA requirements and proficiency in in venipuncture and capillary collection.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the patient and health care team.
Ability to follow established departmental procedures.
Laboratory has scheduled hours daily during the week and half day on Saturday. Off hours are staff by a rotation of call between the other staff technologist/technicians.
