Position : Med/Surg/Oncology RN
13 week Med/Surg/tele traveler. Care on D6 includes general medical/surgical patients as well as oncological and remote telemetry from the age of 18 to geriatrics.
The care is provided by a professional staff that includes Registered Nurses, (and GNs), Licensed Practical Nurses and (GPNs), Health Aides and Technicians. Diagnosis’s include but are not limited to pulmonary disease, diabetes, gastrointestinal disorders, infections and oncology and remote telemetry according to criteria.
Procedures performed by the staff include medication administration, wound care, IV therapy, hyper-alimentation, blood administration and pain management.
Nurses are educated in the administration and safe handling of chemotherapy during orientation and annually. In collaboration with the Pharmacy, chemotherapy is administered by specially trained RN’s.
Patient education needs are assessed on admission and throughout their stay.
Social services, along with Care Management and other healthcare professionals, assure that the patient is cared for on a continuum. They assure the patient and/or family has appropriate resources for discharge, placement or are supported through end of life decisions. Average nurse to patient ratio 1:5 and 1:6.
