Position : Registered Dental Assistant

Specific Competencies: - Performs
oral inspection and charting on patients.- Takes
impressions, prepares models. - Exposes
and processes radiographs. - Performs
pulp vitality testing.- Gives
instruction in oral hygiene to patients. - Applies
topical anesthetic.- Places and removes rubber dams. - Places
or removes sedative dressings. - Removes
surgical sutures. - Place
bases and liners on sound dentin. - Place
and wedge metrices. - Selects
appropriately sized temporary and stainless-steel crowns. -Temporarily
cements and remove temporary crowns. - Removes
supragingival excess cements. - Places
post-surgical dressings on patients. -  Applies
topical fluoride, after scaling and polishing by the supervising dentist or a
registered dental hygienist - Assist
in the administration of nitrous oxide analgesia or sedation as instructed by
the provider. - Demonstrates patient advocacy that
ensures patients’ rights of privacy, safety and confidentiality - Serves as preceptor for new staff as
necessary - Performs other duties as assigned.  - WORKING CONDITIONS:

- Exposure
to bodily fluids; exposure to infectious disease; exposure to emotional crisis
of others - Must be able to work in a fast paced environment,
multitask and prioritize to maintain optimum clinic flow.  PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sits, stands, bends, lifts, walks and moves intermittently during working hours.
  • Able to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.
