Job Title: Labor and Delivery Nurse
Job Summary:
As a Labor and Delivery Nurse, you will be responsible for providing care and support to women during childbirth. You will monitor fetal heart rates, assist with labor and delivery procedures, and educate new mothers on postpartum care. Your role is crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of both mother and baby during the labor and delivery process.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Monitor fetal heart rates and uterine contractions during labor.
2. Assist with labor and delivery procedures such as epidurals, inductions, and cesarean sections.
3. Provide emotional support to laboring mothers and their families.
4. Educate new mothers on breastfeeding, newborn care, and postpartum recovery.
5. Administer medications and assist with pain management techniques.
6. Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
7. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide holistic care to laboring women.
8. Ensure a safe and sterile environment for labor and delivery procedures.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license in the state of practice.
2. BSN or MSN degree from an accredited nursing program.
3. Certification in Inpatient Obstetric Nursing (RNC-OB) preferred.
4. Prior experience in labor and delivery nursing.
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
7. Knowledge of childbirth procedures, medications, and treatments.
8. CPR and ACLS certification required.
9. Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Traveler must live 150 miles or more from our facilities in order to be considered
