Job Title: Oncology Nurse
Job Summary:
An Oncology Nurse provides specialized care for patients with cancer. They work closely with oncologists and other healthcare professionals to administer treatments, monitor patient progress, and provide emotional support to patients and their families.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Administer chemotherapy and other cancer treatments
- Monitor patient vital signs and assess for any adverse reactions
- Educate patients and their families on treatment plans and symptom management
- Collaborate with oncologists and other healthcare team members to develop individualized care plans
- Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and families coping with cancer diagnosis
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with treatment protocols
- Stay updated on the latest research and treatment options in oncology
- Participate in cancer screenings and prevention programs
- Support patients through end-of-life care
Qualifications and Skills:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- Certification in Oncology Nursing (OCN) preferred
- Prior experience working in oncology or related field
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards patients
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-stress environment
