Job Title: Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA)
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) is responsible for assisting the surgeon during surgical procedures by providing direct patient care, handling surgical instruments, and performing other tasks as needed. The RNFA works closely with the surgical team to ensure the safety and well-being of patients before, during, and after surgery.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assist with patient preoperative preparation and positioning
2. Provide intraoperative patient care, including handling surgical instruments and suturing
3. Anticipate the needs of the surgeon during procedures
4. Ensure a sterile environment in the operating room
5. Communicate effectively with the surgical team
6. Assist with postoperative patient care as needed
7. Participate in continuing education and training to stay current on best practices
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Current RN license
2. Certification as a First Assistant in Surgery (RNFA)
3. Minimum of 2 years of experience in surgical nursing
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
5. Ability to work well under pressure
6. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
7. Ability to work effectively as part of a team
8. Knowledge of surgical procedures and instrumentation
