Job Title: Infection Control RN
Job Summary:
The Infection Control RN is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating infection control practices within a healthcare setting to prevent the spread of infections and ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors. This role involves monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on infection rates, educating staff on proper infection control protocols, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Develop and implement infection control policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory guidelines and best practices.
2. Conduct regular infection control risk assessments and audits to identify areas for improvement.
3. Monitor and analyze infection rates, trends, and outbreaks to identify potential sources of infection.
4. Educate staff on infection control practices, including hand hygiene, personal protective equipment use, and isolation precautions.
5. Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop and implement infection prevention strategies.
6. Investigate and report on infectious disease outbreaks, including implementing control measures and communicating with public health authorities.
7. Participate in multidisciplinary teams to address infection control concerns and promote a culture of safety.
8. Maintain accurate and detailed records of infection control activities and outcomes.
9. Stay current on emerging infectious diseases, infection control guidelines, and best practices in the field.
10. Provide support and guidance to staff, patients, and families on infection control issues.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
2. Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field preferred.
3. Certification in infection control (CIC) preferred.
4. Minimum of 2 years of experience in infection control or related field.
5. Strong knowledge of infection control principles, practices, and regulations.
6. Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
8. Attention to detail and ability to analyze complex data.
9. Knowledge of healthcare epidemiology and surveillance methods.
10. CPR certification required.
