Job Title: Behavioral Health Specialist
Job Summary:
The Behavioral Health Specialist provides support and assistance to individuals struggling with mental health issues and substance abuse. They work closely with patients to develop treatment plans, provide counseling, and offer resources to improve their overall well-being.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Conduct assessments to evaluate patients' mental health and substance abuse needs
2. Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessments
3. Provide counseling and therapy sessions to patients
4. Monitor patients' progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
5. Coordinate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for patients
6. Educate patients on coping mechanisms and healthy lifestyle choices
7. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
8. Collaborate with community resources to provide additional support to patients
9. Stay current on best practices and evidence-based treatments in behavioral health
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field
2. State licensure or certification as a Behavioral Health Specialist
3. Prior experience working in mental health or substance abuse treatment
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
6. Knowledge of principles and techniques of counseling and therapy
7. Proficient in using electronic health record systems
8. Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards patients
