Job Requirements:
The certified nursing assistant provides nursing and nursing related services to residents consistent with each resident’s comprehensive assessment and plan of care. All resident care is provided in a manner that meets the resident’s physical, mental and psychosocial needs and enables the individual to attain or maintain the highest practicable level of functioning. The certified nursing assistant maintains a “homelike” environment for the resident, protects and promotes resident rights and assists the resident to maintain independence and control to the greatest extent possible.
Essential Key Job Responsibilities
· Maintaining a “home” in the physical environment, maintaining a sense of welcoming, enhancing relationships in the household through shared activities of living, promoting compassionate services among the team by offering emotional, psychological and spiritual support to all residents including evaluating and addressing the successes and need of the household.
· Promoting the residents’ well-being and satisfaction by supporting resident-centered care, participating in the interdisciplinary team as it establishes and implements the residents’ plan of care with the resident/resident representative.
· Participates in a quality work team by promoting teamwork to provide resident-centered care, participating in team problem solving methods and team/individual successes. Including participating in supportive orientation and training of new staff.
· Maintaining a safe, comfortable and functional environment by assessing the household for potential hazards, utilizes appropriate techniques regarding sanitation, infection control, hazardous waste management, fire safety, disaster preparedness and emergency care.
· Demonstrates support for organizational fiscal viability through efficient and effective use of all resources of the household, including supplies and availability of resources.
· Dementia Sensitivity: able to demonstrate and nurture care practices for persons with dementia that meet needs while promoting individualized person-center care and sense of well-being.
