Job Title: Infection Control Nurse
Job Summary:
The Infection Control Nurse is responsible for implementing and overseeing infection control policies and procedures to ensure the health and safety of patients, staff, and visitors within a healthcare facility. They are also responsible for monitoring and preventing the spread of infections within the facility through education, surveillance, and intervention.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Develop and implement infection control policies and procedures in accordance with state and federal regulations.
2. Conduct ongoing education and training for healthcare staff on infection control practices.
3. Monitor and track trends in infectious diseases within the facility and report any outbreaks to appropriate authorities.
4. Conduct regular audits of infection control practices and make recommendations for improvement.
5. Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop infection prevention strategies for specific patient populations.
6. Investigate outbreaks of infections and implement control measures to prevent further spread.
7. Stay up-to-date on current research and guidelines related to infection control practices.
8. Participate in the development of emergency preparedness plans for infectious disease outbreaks.
9. Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to promote a culture of safety and infection prevention.
10. Provide support and guidance to staff members on infection control issues.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
2. Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
3. Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred.
4. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in infection control or related field.
5. Strong knowledge of infection control principles, practices, and regulations.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
8. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
9. Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
10. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
