Job Title: RN - Oncology
Job Summary:
The RN - Oncology will be responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients with cancer and other oncology-related illnesses. They will work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans, monitor patient progress, and provide emotional support to patients and their families.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assessing and evaluating patients' condition
2. Administering medications and treatments
3. Monitoring patients for potential side effects of chemotherapy and other treatments
4. Educating patients and their families on the disease process and treatment options
5. Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care
6. Maintaining accurate patient records
7. Providing support and comfort to patients and their families
8. Participating in case conferences and multidisciplinary rounds
9. Participating in research and quality improvement initiatives
10. Adhering to all hospital policies and procedures
11. Continuously updating knowledge on oncology nursing best practices
12. Ensuring patient safety and privacy at all times
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license
2. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
3. Certification in Oncology Nursing (OCN) preferred
4. Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in oncology
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
6. Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-stress environment
7. Attention to detail and strong critical thinking skills
8. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
9. Compassionate and empathetic towards patients and their families
10. Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new healthcare technologies
