Job Title: Dialysis Nurse
Job Summary:
The Dialysis Nurse is responsible for the care and treatment of patients with kidney failure who are undergoing dialysis treatment. They provide direct patient care, monitor patients during dialysis treatment, and educate patients on proper care and maintenance of their vascular access. Additionally, Dialysis Nurses work closely with other healthcare team members to ensure the best possible outcomes for their patients.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Provide direct patient care during dialysis treatments.
2. Monitor patients' vital signs and dialysis progress.
3. Administer medications as ordered by physicians.
4. Educate patients on kidney disease, treatment options, and lifestyle changes.
5. Assess patients' physical and emotional wellbeing during treatment.
6. Collaborate with other healthcare team members to develop individualized care plans.
7. Document patient progress and treatment outcomes.
8. Maintain a clean and organized dialysis unit.
9. Stay current on advances in dialysis treatment and technology.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Current RN license in the state of practice.
2. Certification in Nephrology Nursing (CNN) or Dialysis Nursing (CDN) preferred.
3. Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in dialysis.
4. Strong assessment and critical thinking skills.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
7. Proficiency in electronic medical records.
8. BLS certification required, ACLS certification preferred.
