Job Title: Sterile Processing Supervisor
Shift: Variable 5 x 8, Occasional weekend call
Duration:13 weeks
Location: Aspen CO

Job Summary:

The Sterile Processing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the sterile processing department, ensuring that all instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and maintained according to industry standards and regulatory requirements. The supervisor will lead a team of technicians and ensure that protocols are followed to prevent healthcare-associated infections.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Supervise and coordinate sterile processing activities, including decontamination, preparation, packaging, sterilization, and distribution of instruments and equipment.

2. Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and industry standards.

3. Train and mentor sterile processing technicians on proper sterilization techniques and equipment maintenance.

4. Monitor equipment performance and ensure timely maintenance and repair as needed.

5. Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure quality control and accuracy of sterile processing practices.

6. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop effective infection control protocols.

7. Maintain accurate records and documentation of sterilization processes and equipment maintenance.

8. Investigate and report any incidents or breaches in sterile processing protocols.

9. Stay informed about new technologies and best practices in sterile processing to continuously improve department operations.

10. Manage inventory and supplies for the sterile processing department.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. High school diploma or equivalent required; certification in sterile processing preferred.

2. Minimum of 2 years of experience in sterile processing, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.

3. Knowledge of sterilization methods, equipment, and regulatory guidelines (e.g. CDC, AAMI, OSHA).

4. Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage a team of technicians.

5. Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

6. Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals from various departments.

7. Proficient in computer skills and knowledge of electronic health records systems.
