Job Title: Surgical Technologist
Shift: Day | 36 hours per week
Duration: 13 weeks
Location: Portales, NM
Job Summary:
The Surgical Technologist is responsible for assisting surgeons during surgical procedures by preparing and sterilizing instruments, equipment, and operating rooms. They also help ensure the safety and well-being of patients before, during, and after surgery.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Prepare operating rooms for surgery by ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
2. Sterilize and set up surgical instruments and equipment.
3. Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and supplies.
4. Maintain a sterile field during surgery to prevent infection.
5. Monitor patients' vital signs during surgery.
6. Transport patients to and from the operating room.
7. Clean and restock operating rooms after procedures.
8. Follow all safety protocols and infection control procedures.
9. Communicate effectively with team members and patients.
10. Stay current on latest surgical techniques and technologies.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Completion of a surgical technologist program from an accredited institution.
3. Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred.
4. Strong attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to stand for long periods and lift/move patients as needed.
7. Knowledge of surgical instruments and procedures.
8. CPR certification.
9. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
10. Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
