Job Title: OB RN (Obstetrics Registered Nurse)
Location: Nome, AK
Shift: 12hour shifts Nights or days (36 guaranteed)
Duration: 13 weeks
Job Summary:
The OB RN will provide care and support to pregnant women before, during, and after childbirth. They will collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the health and well-being of both mother and baby.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Monitor fetal heart rate patterns and maternal vital signs during labor
2. Assist with labor and delivery procedures, including epidurals and cesarean sections
3. Educate mothers on prenatal care, labor, and postpartum recovery
4. Provide emotional support to mothers and families during childbirth
5. Administer medications as prescribed and monitor for adverse reactions
6. Document patient care and progress in medical records
7. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare team members to develop and implement care plans
8. Assist with breastfeeding support and newborn care
9. Ensure a safe and clean environment for patients and newborns
10. Participate in educational opportunities to stay current on best practices in obstetric nursing
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Current RN licensure in the state of practice
2. BLS and ACLS certification
3. Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
4. Minimum of 2 years of experience in obstetric nursing
5. PALS and NRP
6. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make quick decisions
7. Knowledge of labor and delivery procedures and medications
8. Ability to provide compassionate and patient-centered care
9. Attention to detail and strong critical thinking skills
10. Ability to work well in a team setting
