Job Summary:
As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), you will work under the supervision of licensed occupational therapists to help patients regain or develop skills needed for daily living and work. You will assist in implementing treatment plans, providing therapeutic exercises, and documenting progress for patients.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Work with patients to help improve their ability to perform daily tasks and activities
2. Assist in implementing personalized treatment plans developed by occupational therapists
3. Provide therapeutic exercises and activities to help patients improve motor skills and coordination
4. Document and track patient progress during therapy sessions
5. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for patients
6. Educate patients and their families on techniques to continue therapy at home
7. Maintain a clean and organized therapy workspace
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program
2. Certification as a Licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
3. State licensure or certification as required by state regulations
4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills
5. Ability to work effectively in a team environment
6. Compassion and empathy for patients undergoing therapy
7. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
