Job Title: Respiratory Therapist
Location: Pittsfield, MA
Shift: Rotating 7a-7.30p and/or 7p-7.30a 36hr guarantee
Duration: 13 weeks
Job Summary:
The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for evaluating, treating, and caring for patients with breathing disorders, such as asthma, COPD, and emphysema. They collaborate with physicians to develop treatment plans and educate patients on how to manage their conditions. The Respiratory Therapist also operates and maintains respiratory equipment and provides emergency care in critical situations.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Perform patient assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
- Administer medications and therapies to improve respiratory function
- Monitor and adjust ventilator settings for patients in critical care
- Educate patients on how to use inhalers and other respiratory devices
- Perform diagnostic tests, such as pulmonary function tests and blood gas analysis
- Document patient progress and communicate with healthcare team members
- Provide emergency care in situations such as cardiac arrest or respiratory failure
Qualifications and Skills:
- Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy
- Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist (CRT or RRT)
- State licensure as a Respiratory Therapist
- BLS and ACLS certification
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and in high-stress situations
