Job Summary: An Emergency Room Nurse plays a crucial role in providing urgent medical care to patients in critical conditions. They are responsible for assessing patients, administering treatments, and working closely with physicians to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients in emergency situations.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Triage and assess patients upon arrival in the emergency room.
2. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
3. Monitor patients' vital signs and respond to any changes in condition.
4. Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop patient care plans.
5. Educate patients and their families on diagnosis, treatment options, and follow-up care.
6. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
7. Assist in emergency procedures such as intubation, CPR, and wound care.
8. Stay updated on best practices and advancements in emergency nursing care.
9. Provide emotional support to patients and their families during times of crisis.
10. Adhere to all hospital policies and protocols to ensure patient safety and privacy.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
2. BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
3. Minimum of 2 years of experience in emergency nursing.
4. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
6. Ability to work well under pressure in fast-paced environments.
7. Knowledge of emergency procedures and protocols.
8. Compassionate and empathetic demeanor towards patients.
9. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
10. Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
