Job Summary:
As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for drawing blood from patients for various medical tests, transfusions, donations, or research purposes. You will work closely with patients to ensure their comfort and safety throughout the blood drawing process.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Greet patients and confirm their identity before beginning the blood drawing process.
2. Prepare the necessary equipment for blood collection, including needles, tubes, gauze, and bandages.
3. Locate veins for blood collection and perform venipuncture.
4. Monitor patients during the blood drawing process to ensure their safety and well-being.
5. Label and properly store blood samples for testing or processing.
6. Maintain a clean and organized work environment in the phlebotomy area.
7. Ensure accurate documentation of patient information, including medical history and test results.
8. Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare professionals.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Completion of a phlebotomy training program or certification.
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Attention to detail and accuracy in blood collection and documentation.
5. Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
6. Knowledge of medical terminology and basic anatomy.
7. Ability to follow safety and infection control protocols.
8. Willingness to maintain confidentiality of patient information.
