Job Summary:
The Occupational Therapist will work with individuals of all ages who are experiencing physical, developmental, or emotional challenges that affect their ability to perform everyday tasks. This role aims to help clients improve their motor skills, comprehension, problem-solving abilities, and social interactions to enhance their quality of life.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Evaluate clients to determine their specific needs and goals
2. Develop and implement personalized treatment plans
3. Provide therapeutic activities to improve clients’ fine motor skills, coordination, and sensory processing
4. Teach clients how to use adaptive equipment and assistive technology
5. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, families, and caregivers to ensure holistic care
6. Monitor and track clients’ progress and make adjustments to treatment plans as needed
7. Educate clients and their families on techniques for independent living and self-care
8. Maintain detailed records of assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes
9. Stay up-to-date on current research and trends in occupational therapy practice
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy
2. State licensure as an Occupational Therapist
3. BLS/BCLS
4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
5. Empathy and patience when working with clients
6. Knowledge of anatomy, psychology, and therapy techniques
7. Experience working with diverse populations and age groups
8. Certification in specialized areas of occupational therapy (e.g., hand therapy, geriatrics) is a plus
