Shift: Days/Nights 7p-7a, 7a-7p
Duration: 13 weeks
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) Labor and Delivery is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to expectant mothers and newborns before, during, and after childbirth. This role requires knowledge and expertise in obstetrics, neonatal care, and maternal health to ensure the safety and wellbeing of both mother and baby throughout the childbirth process.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assessing and monitoring the health of expectant mothers and unborn babies.
2. Providing support and education to expectant mothers and their families.
3. Assisting with labor and delivery procedures, including monitoring contractions and fetal heart rate.
4. Administering medications and pain management techniques as needed.
5. Collaborating with physicians and other healthcare providers to develop and implement care plans.
6. Performing postpartum assessments and providing care to newborns.
7. Documenting patient information and maintaining accurate medical records.
8. Ensuring a safe and supportive environment for laboring mothers.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license in the state of practice.
2. Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field (preferred).
3. Certification in obstetrics or labor and delivery nursing (preferred).
4. Strong clinical and critical thinking skills.
5. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
7. Knowledge of current trends and best practices in labor and delivery nursing.
