Job Summary:
As a Certified Nursing Assistant in the Surgical Services department of a medical environment, you will work closely with nursing and medical staff to provide direct patient care and support during surgical procedures. Your role is crucial in ensuring the comfort and well-being of patients before, during, and after surgery.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assist patients with pre-surgical preparations, including taking vital signs and documenting medical history.
2. Help to position and prep patients for surgery, ensuring they are comfortable and as stress-free as possible.
3. Provide emotional support to patients and their families throughout the surgical process.
4. Assist surgical staff during procedures by passing instruments, maintaining a sterile field, and providing other necessary support.
5. Monitor patients post-surgery, including checking vital signs, dressing wounds, and providing basic nursing care.
6. Document patient care in medical records and communicate effectively with the nursing team.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Previous experience in a surgical or medical environment preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
- Compassionate and caring attitude towards patients
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and patient care procedures
