Job Title: House Supervisor - Emergency Room
Job Summary:
The House Supervisor - Emergency Room is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the daily operations of the emergency room unit within the hospital. This position ensures that high-quality patient care is delivered efficiently and effectively, while also managing staffing, resource allocation, and adherence to hospital policies and procedures.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Coordinate and manage all activities within the emergency room unit.
2. Supervise and evaluate emergency room staff, including nurses, aides, and other healthcare professionals.
3. Ensure compliance with all hospital regulations and guidelines.
4. Monitor patient flow and manage bed assignments to optimize efficiency.
5. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure timely and appropriate patient care.
6. Act as a resource and point of contact for staff and patients in emergency situations.
7. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and regulatory compliance efforts.
8. Handle staffing issues, including scheduling, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
9. Assist with budgeting and financial management for the emergency room unit.
10. Communicate effectively with all members of the healthcare team, patients, and their families.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license required; Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
- Previous experience in emergency room or critical care nursing.
- Leadership experience, including supervisory or management roles.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
- Knowledge of hospital policies, procedures, and regulations.
- BLS and ACLS certification required; PALS certification preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to prioritize and delegate effectively.
